Job Description:
We are now looking for a Health and Safety Compliance Engineer. This is a full-time
onsite role working with data center and rack lab technicians, engineers, and designers
to identify health and safety risks of our operational staff and critical infrastructure. The
job is located in the Santa Clara/San Jose area of California. You will use existing tools
and programs to evaluate work tasks and facility life safety measures to ensure that all
teams and facility management are abiding by applicable internal and governmental
Requirements.
What you’ll be doing:
- Partner with the data center and rack lab operations teams on compliance with
H&S programs, procedures, and training.
- Partner with environmental compliance managers to assist with data collection
and inspections related to hazardous, non-hazardous, and e-waste management,
ozone depletion substance (ODS) inventory management, and other
environmental reporting requirements.
- Collect data related to workplace safety including sound level measurements
- Review standard operating procedures, emergency operating procedures, and
other work tasks for worker health and safety hazards and prepare risk
assessments to identify means to reduce risk.
- Assist in the implementation of workshops and training classes for data center
and rack lab operational staff on subject areas including hazard recognition,
hazard assessment, life safety inspections, hazard communication and chemical
safety, heat and cold stressors, indoor and outdoor air quality, and working at
height hazards.
- Participate in regular inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with ISO,
national requirements, operational procedures, local site requirements, and
safety program
- Participate in regular audits of required EHS programs
- Assist the Data Center Engineering and Operation (DCEO) teams and their
partners with proper chemical and waste management, maintaining chemical
inventories and safety data sheets, conduct hazardous waste inspections, and
supervise hazardous waste disposal.
What we need to see:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of health and safety compliance experience
- Knowledge of electrical safety requirements
- Experience reviewing work procedures for recognized hazards, identifying
hazard mitigation processes, and conducting risk assessment/job hazard
analyses
- Proficient in developing and driving operating procedures
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Experience working in research and development environments reviewing
experimental equipment for recognized hazards
- Knowledge of auditing policies, standards, and procedures
- Experience in data center operations with a focus on safety
- Successful management and completion of past ISO audits
- Knowledge of relevant ISO standards
- Certifications such as OSHA 30
